Explore Closter through its historic photographs
Use the borough's history collection to give familiar streets more context.
Closter's history and preservation website gathers information about historic places, photographs, publications, and local stories. It credits the Closter Historical Society with supplying many of its historical images. The collection offers a way to begin exploring the borough before heading out for a walk.
Pick one photograph or historic-place entry and look closely at its details. Notice the building shape, the street setting, and any date or caption. Then compare what the source actually identifies with questions you would like to investigate. A photograph can suggest a useful question without proving when every alteration happened.
The site also links to a short documentary about the Lustron House and to preservation design guidelines. Use those resources to deepen a particular interest rather than trying to cover the entire archive at once. If you later visit a location, observe from public areas and respect private property. Historic documentation does not by itself mean a building is open for tours.
